What is pmu brow removal?
The laser delivers short pulses of light that are absorbed by the pigment within the skin.
The pigment is broken into smaller particles that the body clears gradually over the following weeks.
Cosmetic pigments can respond differently from traditional tattoo inks and may darken or change colour immediately when exposed to laser. This is why a patch test is essential before treatment begins, and it must heal and be assessed before full treatment.

A consultation and patch test are required. We will be honest about how many sessions are likely and whether complete removal is realistic for your pigment.
What does it feel like?
A hot snapping sensation with each pulse. The area feels tender and warm afterwards, and cooling is used throughout.
Treatment time
Around 20–30 minutes.
Recommended course
Several sessions spaced a number of weeks apart are usually needed. The number depends on the pigment used, its depth and how your skin clears it.
Downtime
Redness, swelling and crusting over the brow area are common for several days. Crusts must be left to heal naturally.
Results
Pigment fades gradually across the course. Complete removal cannot be guaranteed, and results vary according to pigment composition, colour, depth and previous brow treatments.

Who may not be suitable?
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Active infection, broken skin or inflammation in the treatment area
- Certain medications, including some that increase light sensitivity
- A history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring
- Some medical conditions or recent procedures affecting the treatment area
- Recent sun exposure, sunbed use or fake tan
- Photosensitising medication
- Active infection or broken skin in the brow area
- Permanent make-up applied within the last three months

Before your appointment
- Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds and fake tan on the face for the period advised.
- Arrive with no make-up on the brow area.
- Tell us about any new medication or health changes.
- Attend your patch test before booking treatment.
Aftercare
- Keep the area clean and dry; do not soak or swim until healed.
- Do not pick, scratch or rub the crusts.
- Apply any recommended ointment as advised.
- Use a high-factor broad-spectrum SPF once healed.

How many sessions does PMU brow removal take?
It varies with the pigment used, how deep it sits and how your skin clears it. A realistic estimate is given at consultation after your patch test.
Can I have new brows afterwards?
Often yes, once the skin has fully healed and any remaining pigment has settled. Your PMU artist will advise on timing alongside our guidance.
Will the pigment change colour during treatment?
Some cosmetic pigments can darken initially before fading. This is why a patch test is always carried out before full treatment.
