PCOS & Hormonal Hair Growth

Hormonal hair growth is different. Your treatment plan should be too.

If you find yourself checking your chin in the mirror, carrying tweezers everywhere, planning around regrowth or feeling like you’re constantly fighting the same hairs, you’re not alone.

PCOS and hormonal changes can cause darker, coarser hair to grow around areas such as the chin, jawline, upper lip and neck. For some women, it’s simply hair. For others, it can have a real effect on confidence and how they feel in their skin.

At Zazura, there is no embarrassment and no judgement. Just a private, relaxed conversation about your hair and whether laser hair reduction could help.

You don’t need to be embarrassed here.

We know hormonal facial hair can sometimes feel incredibly personal.

Maybe you’ve been plucking every morning. Maybe you avoid certain lighting. Maybe you’ve tried waxing, threading, shaving or every gadget you could find online. Or maybe it doesn’t bother you at all and you’d simply like less of it.

However you feel about your hair is completely valid.

Our job isn’t to tell you that it needs removing. It’s simply to give you a welcoming space to talk about your options if you want to.

Laser hair reduction for PCOS

Can laser help with hormonal hair?

Laser hair reduction can be a great option for suitable darker, coarser hairs because the laser targets pigment within the hair.

Hormonal hair growth can behave a little differently, though. Hormones can continue to stimulate new hairs over time, so some clients may need more sessions or occasional maintenance treatments.

It’s worth being clear: laser reduces the hair, but it doesn’t treat PCOS or the underlying hormonal cause.

“Our aim isn’t to promise you’ll never see another hair. It’s to help you spend a lot less time thinking about them.”

Your journey

What your journey might look like

  1. 01

    A private consultation

We talk about where the hair grows, what you’ve tried before and what you’d like to achieve.

  2. 02

    Your patch test

We’ll assess your skin and hair and carry out the required patch test before treatment.

  3. 03

    Your treatment course

If laser is suitable, we’ll create a treatment plan around your individual hair growth.

  4. 04

    Review as we go

Hormonal hair doesn’t always follow the rulebook. We’ll look at how your hair responds rather than treating everyone exactly the same.

  5. 05

    Maintenance if you need it

Hormonal changes can stimulate new growth in the future, so occasional maintenance may form part of your longer-term plan.

Not sure if your hair is hormonal?

You don’t need a PCOS diagnosis to come and talk to us.

There are lots of reasons facial and body hair can change throughout life. If you’ve noticed a sudden or significant change in your hair growth, particularly alongside other changes such as irregular periods, we’ll always encourage you to speak with your GP rather than trying to diagnose the cause ourselves.

You can still talk to us about the hair itself and whether laser may be suitable.

Ready to spend a little less time thinking about unwanted hair?

Whether PCOS has been part of your life for years, you’ve recently noticed hormonal hair growth, or you’re simply tired of reaching for the tweezers, you’re welcome to come and talk to us.

No pressure. No awkward conversations. Just honest advice about whether laser is right for you.
